1st week in the Home Missionary Training Center

 Hello Everyone!

It has definitely been an interesting week for me, a very informative, inspiring week for sure.

To begin each day I start off with exercising.
No matter how many times I get out of shape and try to get back into shape, the soreness of each morning will always be haunting. That said, I've been really enjoying my increased amount of physical activity. There's something cathartic about knowing the first thing you do each day is make sure your body is doing better.

I've felt that a lot of what I've been experiencing while learning at the Mission Training Center has been somewhat of a wake up call to not only what I should be doing more of but what I already have been doing. I've felt more of a need to really study and really listen to the spirit. Along with that, I've gotten a greater appreciation for what you can learn from other's in a group environment as my district has been so wonderful to me.

I have two companions Elder Allen from Lehi, Utah and Elder Bird from Idaho Falls, Idaho. They've been an absolute joy to converse and study with. I also have four sisters in my district: Sister Howell, Slocum, Larsen, and Taylor. We are all learning Spanish and going to very diverse cities across the United States. I have four teachers who have been really awesome. They've been very helpful in every lesson with both feedback and instruction.

A scripture that stood out to me this week is from The Book of Mormon in Helaman 5:12 "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

This scripture touched me as I was reminded how my testimony is strong because my foundation has been built on Jesus Christ and his Atonement.

I invite each of you to ponder how you can increase your testimony and strengthen your foundation so that when storms come in your lives, you can be prepared to weather them with Christ as your foundation.

¡Adiós amigos!
