Finding people

Image
Hey everyone! Today's been another week of work.  We've been trying to find more people to teach around our church building, most people aren't really interested, but they've at least been very polite. We did meet a really nice guy one day though. His name is Daniel, and we talked with him for quite a bit and told us how happy he was that we were preaching the gospel. Turns out he knew pretty much everyone in the ward and his wife is a member. We haven't talked to him since, but we'll definitely find time to. We also have been working more with our friend Fredy who wants to be baptized. Well, trying to. It's just getting to meet with him more than once a week, but we think he's progressing pretty well. Also, on Tuesday we had a great zone conference and we went to mighty birds afterwards and Elder González got the hulk burrito. Biggest burrito I've ever seen. We also had a really great experience with a friend helping them clean around thei...

Otra Semana en Los Angeles

Well hello everyone!   This week was a little bit of a new experiences, but still a lot of familiar things too.   For one thing, it's been a little bit hard to find new friends to teach, although that doesn't mean we haven't found people who could become friends. I've honestly chalked all of that up to just talking to more people on the street, and just diving into interacting with people.   I have found just relaxing and trusting in the Lord has made it so much easier to talk and teach in both English and Spanish, because it has removed my over-thinking human mind out of the equation as much as it possibly can be. Because I am an imperfect person, but I know that God is perfect, and that has made me able to just jump to help people in any situation. That reminds me of a scripture in the Book of Mormon. Moroni 10:32 32  Yea,  come  unto Christ, and be  perfected  in him, and  deny  yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall de...

First few weeks in LA

¡Hola Todos! Getting into the mission was a unique experience for me. Going from speaking English all my life to speaking only Spanish for like 3 days was really hard. My companion and the other companionship in the apartment I think noticed and it's been more 50/50 lately. Spanish has been a challenge for me. I understand maybe 50% of most conversations I'm in, and everything I say is probably understood less than 50% of the time. It's a long learning process, but less than half understanding now is better than almost none 3 weeks ago.  Along with that, teaching has been a different experience. I don't understand a lot so the amount I can contribute is limited, but I've felt nearly all the time it's been to a great benefit from each lesson I've been able to involve myself in. Most of the people I have been teaching have also been a new experience, disregarding the language barrier. A decent portion of them read a lot or at least understand a lot about t...
