Finding people
Hey everyone!
Today's been another week of work.
We've been trying to find more people to teach around our church building, most people aren't really interested, but they've at least been very polite. We did meet a really nice guy one day though. His name is Daniel, and we talked with him for quite a bit and told us how happy he was that we were preaching the gospel. Turns out he knew pretty much everyone in the ward and his wife is a member. We haven't talked to him since, but we'll definitely find time to.
We also have been working more with our friend Fredy who wants to be baptized. Well, trying to. It's just getting to meet with him more than once a week, but we think he's progressing pretty well.
Also, on Tuesday we had a great zone conference and we went to mighty birds afterwards and Elder González got the hulk burrito. Biggest burrito I've ever seen.
We also had a really great experience with a friend helping them clean around their house. We mostly just swept up stuff and collected some trash. But she gave us some food and we got to talk to her boyfriend Geraldo, who also helped us clean. Turns out he's a really smart guy who knows a ton about engineering and made this cool laser that he showed us. And proceeded to almost blind me with. Fun stuff. He also offered us a bike as a gift because it had sentimental value to him. He and his father-in-law (or something along those lines) used to hate each other, but then they made up and as a sign of goodwill they gave Geraldo thar bike. He said he felt bad that he never used it and didn't want anyone else to use it because they'd break it. But he said he wanted us to have it because he knew we'd use it to serve preach the word of God.
That
was the big takeaway for me this week. That people recognize when you're on the
Lord's errand, and they respect you for it. It's been so reassuring to see that
and has reaffirmed my faith in this work.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;
for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy,
and my burden is light."
I know that “in the strength of the Lord” (Mosiah 9:17) we can do and overcome all things. I invite you to put your faith in our Savior Jesus Christ in all you are doing and through Him all your burdens will be lighter and possible.
Best,
Elder Madsen
